Finish strong, not fast.

The pace of life speeds up this time of year, but strength isn’t in rushing. It’s in rhythm, patience, and finishing with purpose.

Finish strong, not fast.

That phrase has shown up in every part of my life, from running to sales to how I start my mornings.

When I ran my first half-marathon, I learned quickly that it’s not just about how you start, and not even how you feel halfway through. It’s about the finish. The mind games, the fatigue, the second wind that shows up just when you think you’re done, that’s where the growth happens. It’s not about how quickly I can cross the line. It’s about how it feels to cross it knowing I gave everything I had.

That same mindset carried into my years in sales.

Finishing assertively meant building momentum early, laying the groundwork in Q4, setting up wins for the new year, and holding myself accountable to close what I said I would. It’s that sense of control and fulfillment when you finish what you start, and finish it well.

I’ve watched people rush to finish fast, but when you finish strong, it’s different. It’s power added to your internal battery. It’s confidence earned, not given.

It’s the same lesson I’ve shared with my girls, and one my parents taught me:

Stop rushing through homework. Stop rushing through life. You don’t need to finish fast.

Life feels better when you finish strong, with purpose.

And even in my morning rhythm, every Orangetheory class, every workout, I remind myself: it’s not about how fast I can go. It’s about finishing stronger than the day before. That moment when you push past “enough” into “just a little more”, that’s where purpose lives.

As we start November, everything speeds up. The deadlines, the holidays, the push to finish “everything.”

Our clocks even roll back, we gain an hour, but somehow still lose our rhythm.

That’s when I remind myself: the sun always rises slowly, but strong.

It doesn’t rush. It builds its light, its strength, its purpose throughout the day.

That’s how we are meant to move too.

I talked with my friend Yogesh Patel last week; he’s been reflecting every morning before the sun comes up. I love that because reflection is fuel.

We all have purpose; sometimes we need to slow down, breathe, and find it again.

Finish strong, not fast.

And if you need to reset, remember: the rhythm is still there, waiting for you to catch it.

Daily Coffee Reflection:

Where do you need to slow down to finish stronger, in your work, your mindset, or your purpose?
