Kung Food AmerAsia: A Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives Find… Right Here in Cincinnati

I’ve followed Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives for years.

Before COVID—when I traveled a lot—I used the show as a go-to way to find restaurants with real character. Places that weren’t trying to be trendy… they just were what they were. Loud flavors, interesting energy, and that “how did I not know about this?” feeling. Some of them absolutely hit the dives part of the show in the best way.

Lately, I’ve been trying to get back to that eclectic, off-the-radar vibe again—especially close to home.

I watched an episode recently and Kung Food AmerAsia popped up. In my head, I assumed it had to be New York or California. The name, the visuals, the whole vibe — it felt like a big-city find.

Then I looked it up… and realized it’s right here in the Cincinnati area.

The craziest part? This restaurant has been around for 16+ years. I’ve driven by it for years, and somehow it fell off my radar—one of those “I’ll go soon” places that never becomes “I went.”

Until now.

What an experience. The atmosphere is bold, fun, and full of personality. And the food? Amazing. The kind of meal that makes you slow down and actually pay attention.

I missed seeing the father-and-son cooking (I’ve heard demand has been huge since the show), but you can still feel the story behind the place—the energy, the originality, and the pride in what they’ve built.

I’ll definitely be back.

And honestly—thank you, Guy, for continuing to shine a light on the restaurants that deserve the extra attention. Sometimes that spotlight reminds you to stop sleeping on what’s been in your own backyard the whole time.

If you’ve been to Kung Food AmerAsia, tell me what I should order next.
